Originally from the West Country, Alistair played his amateur golf at Oake Manor Golf Club before beginning his career at Exeter Golf & Country Club and then completing his PGA training at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club. Alistair enjoyed some great success during his training, finishing runner-up in the prestigious Assistant of the Year Awards in 2011, whilst also claiming the title of West Region Assistant of the Year during each of his three years of training.
Alistair moved to Surrey in early 2012 to secure his first Head Professional role at Reigate Heath Golf Club, arguably the finest 9 hole course in England. Having enjoyed a successful two years in Surrey, Alistair returned to the South West in May 2014 to take up the post of Head Professional at Tiverton Golf Club.
An enthusiastic coach who combines modern coaching theory with a relaxed and friendly demeanour, he likes to keep his lessons simple and easy to understand. Alistair has always been a keen custom fitter and strongly believes that every golfer should play with clubs that are perfectly matched to their own swing.
Alongside his duties at Tiverton, Alistair enjoys playing golf competitively and regularly tees it up in County and West Region PGA events. Alistair is the 2017 Captain of the PGA in Devon.
A member at Tiverton for 10 years, Tom successfully represented the club at all levels and ultimately got his handicap down to 1. Having now turned professional he is undertaking his PGA training under Alistair whilst working hard on his golf game. This hard work was rewarded when Tom recorded his first professional victory in just his fifth event as a pro.
David was a member of Woodbury Park for 6 years before moving to Spain to extend his golf career. Within these two years David has competed in many events as an amateur. David had a successful amateur career in Spain before turning professional with a handicap of 0. As a professional David competed on the Gecko Tour in Malaga for 4 months before deciding to undertake his PGA training under Alistair Welsher.
Jess has been a member of Tiverton for over 10 years. Throughout her amateur career she represented the club and county. Winning both the juniors and ladies county championship. She played for the Devon ladies first team for 8 years and holds the ladies course record at Tiverton.
After gaining a scholarship to study at Lynn University, in Florida, she helped the university win back to back NCAA Division II National Championships. Jess was also named Ping Division II Player of the year for two consecutive years. After graduating in 2015 she gained her tour card for the Ladies European Tour and currently represents the club on the LET and LET Access Series.
